Assessment and Evaluation policy
To increase the confidence in the students and to start preparing for the class X examination when they join the upper primary stage in class VI The Central Board of Secondary Education has rolled out its latest policy, termed the uniform assessment examination.
This would prepare the students to cover the whole syllabus of the academic year and face the challenges of class X.
To achieve the above objective, the academic session has been divided into two terms. First term (April to September); second term (October to March).

Periodic Test
- Three periodic written tests are to be conducted in each subject in an academic year.
- Each periodic test will carry 10 marks..
- Average of the best two tests to be taken for final mark submission.
Objective
- Three periodic tests will help students prepare for the annual board examination.
- It will help teachers keep track of the students learning throughout the year.
Notebook Submission
- This is to give weight to the student’s regularity, assignment completion, neatness, and upkeep of their notebook.
- Notebook submissions will earn 5 marks for the periodic test.
Objective
- It will help to improve students’s ability to prepare notes as well as assignments in a neat and tidy way and on time.
- This will inculcate the qualities of regularity, punctuality, and neatness among the students.
Subject Enrichment Activity
- Speaking and listening skills in language subjects.
- Practical lab work in science.
- Math lab work in mathematics.
- Map work and project work in social science.
- Subject Enrichment Activity will also add 5 marks to the periodic test.
Objective
- These are the subject-specific activities that will help in better understanding the subject and skill development.
- Periodic Test (10 marks): A periodic written test is restricted to three in each subject in an academic year. Average of the best two tests to be taken for final mark submission. This test will be conducted by the schools. A total of three tests will be taken, and the average of the best two tests will be taken for final mark submission. The syllabus for periodic tests will be prepared by the schools.
Notebook Submission (5 marks):
- Regularity
- Assignment Completion
- Neatness and upkeep of the notebook
Subject Enrichment Activity (5 marks):This will include:
- Practical lab work
- Practical lab work in science.
- Math lab practical
- Map work and project work
- Periodic Test (10 marks) + Notebook Submission (5 marks) + Subject Enrichment Activities (5 marks) + Board Exam (80 marks) = 100 marks.
Class 1st to 5th
To achieve the objective, the academic session has been divided into two terms (April to September) and a second term (October to March).
TERM-1
- Periodic assessment 1 (July Test): 10 marks.
- Copy work (CW, HW): 5 marks.
- Subject enrichment activities: 5 marks.
- Term-End Assessment (September exams): 80 marks.
TERM-2
- Periodic Assessment-2 (December test): 10 marks.
- Copy work (CW, HW): 5 marks.
- Subject enrichment activities: 5 marks.
- Term-end assessment (Feb-March exams): 80 marks.
Syllabus for written Exam
- July test: 25% (2 chapters max)
- September Exam: 50% of the syllabus (all chapters covered before the exam)
- Dec Test: 25% (2 chapters max)
- March Exam (a) Class VI-Term-2 + 10% from Term 1 (b) Class VII Term-2 + 20% from Term 1
To achieve the above objective, the academic session has been divided into four quarters. The first quarter (April to mid-July), second quarter (mid-July to March), third quarter (October to December), and fourth quarter will be the total syllabus covered.
Class I to V will have four Quarterly Assessments
- First Quarter Exam (Q1): July
- Second Quarter Exam (Q2)-September
- Third Quarter Exam (Q3)-December
- Fourth Quarter Exam (Q4)-March
Class 6th to 8th
Classes VI to VIII will have the same format of assessment. However, a class year has been divided into two terms. So, students of these classes will have to appear for exams in the Term 1 exam, which will be based on the syllabus covered during that term. A certain percentage of questions in the Term 2 exam will be based on the Term 1 syllabus.

- (May Test): 10 marks.
